Redbox Entertainment Animation

DESIGN

In 2020, Redbox began offering exclusive original content for its streaming platform and kiosks. I was tasked with creating the logo animation that would play before each film. Early on, the animation was kept simple to just animate the logo, but by 2021, a fully animated sequence with custom sound was added before all branded content.
The concept behind this animation was to illustrate how movies can bring people together and by making it a "movie night". The graphics were kept flat, but to add dimension and visual interest, it was broken up into angular shapes.
I developed this animation from sketch into vector drawing and created the basic animation. The final animation was skillfully executed by the talented motion designer on my team.

FINAL ANIMATION

COLOR FILL ROUGH CONCEPT
Once the sketch was approved for placement, I put together this rough animation in After Effects to help stakeholders understand the way the colors would fill in the scene.

MOTION ROUGH CONCEPT
Before this project was passed along to my motion designer Billy, the rough motion sequence needed final sign-off. Even though the storyboard outlined the sequence, once stakeholders reviewed the animation they preferred to see the motion move into the scene.
